Welcome To The Hollies Surgery

Important: Update on temporary closure of The Hollies GP Practice – Tuesday 11th November

The following services are continuing to be delivered today, led by our new interim leadership team that is now place:

  • Telephone GP consultations for patients with existing bookings
  • Non-urgent online consultations have resumed via the Accurx’s online consultation tool.
  • Prescription requests are being processed. Please don't drop off repeat prescriptions at the practice - you can request them online through Accurx or via the NHS App.
  • Home visits continue
  • Some face to face appointments have now started and more will become available via alternative local sites
  • Reviewing the backlog of patient queries, please note we will be prioritising actions based on clinical urgency

If you need medical assistance:

  • For urgent but non-life-threatening concerns, contact NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk
Emergency prescription requests can also be submitted via 111 online: Emergency prescriptions - NHS 111
  • For non-urgent patient queries please use the Accurx’s online consultation tool. You can send your request via accurx.nhs.uk/patient-initiated/F81075
  • Local community pharmacies can help with minor illnesses, medication queries, and healthcare advice. Repeat prescriptions can continue to be ordered through the NHS App or  SystmOnline

Local pharmacies can provide care for common conditions such as coughs, colds, sore throats (age 5+), ear infections (age 1–17), skin infections, and urinary tract infections in women (age 16–64) through the Pharmacy First service. This allows patients to access timely treatment and prescription medicines without a GP appointment, easing pressure on the practice. Pharmacists can also help with medication-related queries.
  • For life-threatening emergencies, call 999
  • Get the right care and support - Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System for information on other alternative health services.
  • You can use the NHS App to access your health record, order repeat prescriptions, and more. Find out how to register for the NHS App, and information about local digital support groups at NHS App - Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System

We are continuing to work hard to resume wider patient services and reopen the surgery as soon as we can.  We will provide further updates as soon as possible.

We hope to overcome the current challenges as quickly as possible and kindly request that patients do not register with another practice in the meantime.

We recognise the significant impact this temporary closure has had and continues to have on our patients and staff.

We have been and will continue to contact any registered patients who have appointments that need to be rescheduled. We apologise again for this inconvenience. We politely request that patients please wait to be contacted and avoid attending the practice.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support as we work to resume full patient services as quickly as possible.

Why has this temporary closure happened?

On 30 October 2025, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which regulates health and care services, issued an urgent notice under Section 31 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to temporarily suspend the registration of the practice as a service provider for up to six months.    This action was linked to issues raised in previous CQC inspections.

This action resulted in the temporary closure of the practice on Friday 31 October.

The local NHS is working to put arrangements in place so that you can continue to receive safe, high-quality care during this period.

For more information, please visit the Mid and South Essex ICB news update on GP services at The Hollies.

This website has been designed to tell you about the practice and the services that we offer. Please read it carefully. We trust that you will find it helpful and informative.

For nearly a century, this practice has developed a comprehensive family health care service to meet the needs of local people. Our extended and refurbished building includes full access for those with disabilities and consists of five consulting suites and four treatment rooms. We also provide a pram park.

Though based in a traditional setting, we have a full range of up-to-date facilities and equipment and are fully computerised.

Patients can now book an appointment with any of the Doctors who are on duty that day.
